New shooter development is an objective of the Arizona Game and Fish Department and a goal of Arizona Outdoor Sports. AOS provides lessons in the safe and effective use of archery equipment and firearms for recreational use in shooting sports. This consists of hands on shooting lessons supported by grants from the NRA and fund raising activity of AOS members. Safety and live fire aspects of this instruction are conducted by coaches and instructors certified by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. An NRA grant makes this available at little or no cost to new shooters. This program is available to shooters of all ages. Please call or write if interested. It gives us great pleasure to watch a new shooter as they see their target flying 90 feet away and 40 miles an hour burst into a thousand pieces from one of their first shots. A double bullseye at 100 feet is no less a thrill.
We can show new shooters how to enjoy the Arizona Outdoors and shooting sports in harmony with wildlife habitat and our environment.
We also focus on safety at all times. The below is our safety code.
“T.A.B. + 1″—The Four Primary Rules of Firearm Safety
- Treat every firearm as if it were loaded.
- Always keep the muzzle in a safe direction.
- Be sure of your target and beyond.
- +1 Keep your finger outside the trigger guard until ready to shoot.
